Heading stateside for a summer getaway? You may be wise to steer clear of Honolulu, if you’re watching your budget.
TripAdvisor has unveiled a cost-comparison of the biggest U.S. cities, based on costs for two people to stay for one night in a four-star hotel, enjoy cocktails and a two-course dinner with wine, and a round-trip taxi trip.
The survey found that the Hawaiian capital will set travellers back the most, costing $504. It’s followed by New York City at $369, and Boston which will set you back $351.

Bargain hunters would be smart to head far south, where the dollar goes a lot further.
“Although hotel prices are on the rise this summer, travelers looking for deals can find exceptional value for accommodations in popular American destinations such as Las Vegas, Miami and New Orleans,” said Brooke Ferencsik, director of communications at TripAdvisor.
Sin City remains the cheapest, setting travellers back a measly $136. Texas is also a good pick, with Dallas and Houston also placing on the least-expensive list.
