Luxembourg

Luxembourg–the world’s only Grand-Duchy–may be one of the smallest countries, but it's big on medieval charm, stately buildings and scenic landscapes.

Most visitors start by exploring Luxembourg’s capital (a city of the same name) which boasts imposing fortifications that have earned a spot on the UNESCO list, sweeping viewpoints, charming laneways, great shopping and many European institutions.

While the city is very walkable, public transportation is also free and an easy way to get around. The nation’s compact size means many of the best day trips in Luxembourg are less than one hour from the city, so it’s easy to see the main highlights in just a few days: visit a towering castle, hike through a geopark, go wine tasting in a vineyard and see where the Schengen agreement took place.
