The boutique property was built in 2004, and is owned by an incredibly sweet couple named Sergio and Bryan Jauregui. The couple met when Bryan–who is originally from the USA–travelled to the area with her sisters, and Sergio happened to be their guide. They have since launched Todos Santos Eco Adventures which leads excursions around B.C.S., and also operates glamping resorts in the Sierra La Laguna Biosphere Reserve and Camp Cecil on Isla Espiritu Santo.

The accommodations at Los Colibris Casitas
With only nine units sleeping a maximum of 26 guests it never feels busy here, and the property was cleverly designed to ensure privacy; think patios surrounded by leafy palms, winding stone pathways that makes it feel like you’re walking through a secret garden, and plenty of private outdoor space for each casa and casita. If you time your visit right, you might even be able to watch whales migrate from the comfort of your sun-soaked balcony!
Sleeping anywhere from two to four guests, each authentically-designed villa has sweeping views of the ocean and surrounding Sierra de la Laguna mountains. Casa Colina and Casa Colibris are the biggest, with perks like full kitchens, two huge bedrooms, a living area and multiple outdoor patios, including rooftop balconies for unobstructed ocean views and stargazing.
Babisuri House is the most modern, and has three large, wheelchair accessible suites. It’s built into the hillside with lovely touches like outdoor showers, king size beds and spacious lounge areas.

Amenities at Los Colibris Casitas
The laid-back vibe at Los Colibris is best experienced around the outdoor pool area, which also features a hot tub and plenty of loungers. From the deck, guests can often spot whales, manta rays skimming along the ocean’s surface, and even horseback riders on the beach.

There‘s one on-site restaurant called Iker’s Colibris Cafe, which serves breakfast every morning as well as fresh fruit juices and smoothies. Foodies will want to arrange a cooking class with chef-in-residence Iker Algorri, and learn how to make traditional Mexican faves like tangy margaritas, guacamole and spicy chile rellenos. Chances are you’ll be joined by at least a few of the Jaureguis’ dogs hoping for treats!

Birders love staying at Los Colibris (which means ‘the hummingbirds’ in Spanish) as more than 150 species of tropical birds have been spotted in the surrounding area, including the Gray Thrasher and Belding’s Yellowthroat which are endemic to Baja California Sur. There’s also plenty of flora and fauna which are a mix of imported and native plants, and arid hills dotted with cacti leading to a yoga deck. The views from above are incredible, and best enjoyed at sunset.
