Lounging in a colourful Adirondack chair while admiring the world-famous Bay of Fundy, toasting s’mores around a roaring campfire or a night spent stargazing are just a few of the fun things to do while staying in Fundy National Park in New Brunswick. As if the unlimited outdoor adventures weren’t reason enough to visit, it just so happens to have some of the most unique overnight stays of any of Canada’s national parks—no cookie-cutter hotels here, folks! Here are three of the coolest, quirkiest options for Fundy National Park accommodations.
1) The Goutte d’Ô
This water-drop shaped hut made its debut in a 2016 pilot-project, and is proving so popular that Parks Canada will likely keep it around and is also testing the feasibility of hanging it high in the trees or on stilts. The main level has a sofa bed and space to store belongings, along with a ladder up to the hammock suspended above.
The cozy accommodations are perfect for a romantic getaway, as the canvas roof can be pulled back to reveal the starry night sky.
Need to know: Visitors need to bring their own cooking equipment and bedding, and the Goutte d’Ô is not heated.
2) A Yurt
Yurts are a circular, wood-frame structure which are popular in central Asia as they’re easy to transport. However, they stay put in Fundy National Park year-round, and can even be rented during winter thanks to the insulated walls and propane stove.
The ceiling has a clear dome to bring the outdoors in, and the interior includes a pull-out sofa, bunk beds, kitchen table and chairs.
Need to know: Visitors need to bring their own cooking supplies and bedding, along with matches or a lighter to start the wood stove. Try to reserve site #1 if possible, as it has incredible views of the Bay of Fundy.
3) An oTENTik
With space for a minimum of five people, this is one of the best accommodations in Fundy National Park for larger groups. The wood-frame, canvas-covered tents are as close to glamping as it gets, and most are outfitted with a heater, bunk beds, table and chairs, BBQ and fire pit. The oTENTiks are found in three different campgrounds around the park.
Need to know: Visitors need to supply their own bedding and cooking equipment, and will want to bring indoor shoes for walking around on the hardwood floors.

I love glamping and have always wanted to go to Fundy. What a perfect combination. The Goutte d’Ô is pretty rad. I think the only thing cooler would be to hang it from a tree. Maybe you can hang several off a tree so they look like ornaments with suspended bridges connecting them like garland.

What fun accommodations! They all look comfortable and secure, so a good night sleep will happen for sure. The area around them looks so pretty too. I can see myself in one of those chairs, looking at the water and reading a good book.

These overnight accommodations are unique indeed. What would they think of next? The Goutte d’Ô is ideal for summer as it’s not heated and for admiring the night sky by pulling the roof cover. I would go for the other two for other seasons.
These accommodations are amazing for an outdoor lover like me! It would be hard to choose just one, but I’m leaning towards the Goutte d’Ô. Going in the summer when it’s warm and staring at the stars at night sounds like the perfect way to end a day!

What a treat to learn about these 3 tyoes if lodging at the Bay of Fundy National Park. We were there in 2012 but opted for a traditional B&B nearby. Regrets!
I’ve never heard of this National Park before. I love both national parks and super funky accommodations. I would want to stay in The Goutte d’Ô because it’s just so funky and so unique! It looks very romantic!

I would pick the The Goutte d’Ô from these because it looks so cute, shaped like a rain drop, and cosy from inside! I have never stayed at a yurt either, but I;ll leave that for some other place, some other time.The Goutte d’Ô is unique!
