Oregon

With soaring mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls, pristine lakes and sweeping beaches, Oregon's natural features make this state a standout spot.

The 7 Wonders of Oregon list plays off the idea of the seven wonders of the world, and highlights some of the top places in state to visit like Crater Lake National Park, the Painted Hills, Smith Rock State Park and the spectacular Oregon Coast.

The Columbia River Gorge (an hour east of Portland along the Washington border) also made the list, thanks to its vineyards, lavender fields and scenic trails. Base yourself in Hood River, which is famous for its wind sports and has easy access to the best waterfalls including Multnomah Falls.

Other highlights of a visit to Oregon are the Willamette Valley wineries, tulip festivals, the city of Bend and Mount Hood National Forest which hosts a handful of ski hills.
